HOW TO MAKE A WEDDING MOOD BOARD THAT CAPTURES YOUR VISION

Your wedding day is made by your creative direction. It should be made with your taste, personality, and heart. How can you create a wedding mood board that will perfectly encapsulate your vision?

WHERE TO START…

Pinterest and Canva are two ways that can help you create your perfect vision. Personally, my go-to is Pinterest. You can easily organize all your different inspiration such as color palettes, flowers, cakes, decor, wedding dresses, rehearsal outfits, bridal party AND so much more!

When organizing a wedding, so many things come into play. That’s why, creating a vision that you want to bring to life will be incredibly helpful to everyone that cannot see inside your brain. Having a wedding mood board has allowed me to direct my time to things I personally need to get done, while others complete their own assignments that I don’t have to oversee. Pinterest is an incredible source of inspiration (and direction) for anything.

Now, let’s dive into more sections you can create in your wedding mood board…

COLORS

When I first started thinking about my wedding colors, I was really leaning towards fall colors. Since I’m getting married in October, if felt appropriate. But the more I thought about it and the more pictures I saw, I couldn’t fully accept the bright and deep fall colors that people are used to. Don’t get me wrong, I still completely LOVE fall with all my being, but after seeing all the different color palettes, I picked a different palette that I know will be perfect.

VENUE

Youll find a lot of inspiration for venues when creating your mood board. Everyone is so different, so you should pick a vibe that fits you. Some prefer more of an intimate and private wedding, while others need a big, loud, and full celebration. When crafting your mood board, consider what type of vibe you prefer. From our Garden Room with its beautifully newly renovated speakeasy, to our vintage Leo Ballroom with modern amenities and historic charm, Omaha Event Group has a perfect venue space for any type of vision!

BRIDAL PARTY

Personally, I am not being very strict when creating my vision. For example, my bridesmaids will have the option to pick any dress they’d like, with my approval of course. I’ve given them some specifics such as one color and floor length. But that’s pretty much it. When creating your vision, you’ll see lots of bridal party ideas. Some prefer the same exact color with the same fabric from the same store. Others will opt for a variety of colors and textures. Pick what speaks to you!

Outfits

If you don’t know much about fashion, pinterest is a perfect resource for you. From your wedding dress to your groom’s outfit, you’ll find lots of inspiration whether you want to go traditional or a completely different route. Something I kept in mind when designing my wedding dress was comfort and mobility. I want a big beautiful ballgown with sleeves, but don’t want sequins poking me all day or people stepping on my train during the reception. Selecting lace sleeves and making sure to add a bustle to my dress won’t sacrifice beauty and will help me be more comfortable on this special day! Simple things like this to keep in mind will help you look beautiful and allow you to fully enjoy your special day.
