Tips for Planning a Multi-Day Wedding Weekend in Omaha
Planning a multi-day wedding weekend consists of a LOT of factors. Let’s talk about things to consider when aiming to create a memorable time for family and friends!
START EARLY
Send out Save the dates as soon as possible! That way people have time to request time off of work or accommodate this special weekend in their busy schedules. Believe me, you’ll feel a lot better if you get them out of the way.
WELCOME PARTY
From a brunch to a cocktail party, throwing a welcome party would be a fun way to kick off the weekend. It allows your guests to mingle between themselves and skip introductions when they see each other at the next gathering.
The Empire Room is a perfect spot for a cocktail party or brunch. It’s beautifully bright with large windows, or moody with an outdoor patio. Omaha Event Group has a venue for all of your needs.
CREATE AN ITINERARY
Creating an itinerary for guests will be incredibly useful for you and your guests. It gives guests an opportunity to glance at their next few days and prepare for them if need be. Giving them details and asking them to RSVP will save you from headaches and spending excess money when not everyone will be available to join you.
ACTIVITIES
Omaha has a wide variety of activities for the entire family! Our very own Henry Doorly Zoo is ranked as the best zoo in the nation and it certainly lives up to the hype! Just remember to prepare your guests with a lot of walking! One of my favorite places to visit is Lauritzen Gardens. With an incredible green-house and beautiful paths, it makes for a great spot to take pictures. For low-budget activities, consider visiting the Joslyn Art Museum. With incredible architecture and beautiful art, it’s a perfect indoor spot to stroll if the weather is against you. When in doubt, take a stroll down the Old Market. With lots of shops and restaurants to try and explore, time will fly by.
I personally have a lot of family coming from out of country. As much as I’d love to show them everything and anything possible, we should also allot for some moments of relaxation. Adding “chill time” into the itinerary will be greatly appreciated by guests.
REMAIN FLEXIBLE
Not everything in your well-thought and nicely typed itinerary will be followed through. Weather or other unavoidable obstacles might change plans. Create a list of back-ups for certain events. With distant preferences and accessibility, consider providing other suggestions to guests if they don’t think certain activities would be a right fit for them.
ENJOY
A multi-day wedding weekend will certainly be a memorable time for everyone! It’s a perfect time to enjoy time with family and friends while they’ve come together to celebrate a very special day. Remember these tips when planning your weekend!
